How to write an article for a trade or business publication

In this session, we’ll cover 10 essential points about producing articles that trade and business magazines want to publish. We will show you how to increase your chances of impressing an editor and getting your story published. Topics will include:

  • Meeting the needs of a particular magazine or newspaper. Who is reading?
  • Clarity in writing. Less is more
  • What to write about?
  • Information (good) vs. shameless self-promotion (bad!)
  • The shape of the story – the Inverted Pyramid, the Diamond, and the Model T
  • What to include? The 5xW+H
  • How to use quotes
  • Headlines – make them sing
  • Conclusions
  • Checklists
